Combatting Period Poverty with Access Period

On average, women spend nearly $20 on period products each month. That means $20 less for gas, groceries, and other monthly bills. As a result, women suffer through their time of the month without the aid of pads or tampons, because they don’t have the funds to spend these items.

Access Period combats this phenomenon—known as period poverty—by providing free menstrual products to everyone in need. Their team purchases and collects period products to distribute across local nonprofits like ours. Access Period keeps all YES facilities fully stocked with period kits and menstrual items that are readily available to anyone who walks through our doors. Youth seeking support from YES receive everything they need, so they can navigate next steps successfully—and a little more comfortably.

For 50 years, Youth Emergency Services has empowered young people to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams. By building connections with organizations like Access Period, YES can continue to meet youth where they are with comprehensive care for 50-plus more. Thank you, Access Period, for your impact on the Omaha community and beyond! Learn more about Access Period.
